Mural celebrates California’s past and present
Artist Ella Papini of Brownsville puts the finishing touches on a community mural on the side of the Lisa J. Buday Law Office along Liberty Street in California. Funded through a Rotary District 7305 community beautification grant secured by the California Rotary Club, the mural features current and historic images associated with the borough, including PennWest California’s Old Main tower, the Vulcans and Trojans mascots, the former train station that was converted into a library, the former Shake-N-Dog restaurant, the Hollywood Theater and “Oliver the Cat” from the Buday Law Office. The mural was unveiled to the community Wednesday evening. Jeff Helsel / Mon Valley Independent
