Volunteers needed for Cook Farm celebration
The “once-in-a-generation event” is set for Aug. 8.
Volunteers are being sought for a major celebration marking the 250th anniversary of The Cook Farm, with organizers saying community support will be key to making the Aug. 8 event a success.
Organizers recently announced on social media they are looking to fill dozens of volunteer positions for what they described as a “once-in-a-generation event” expected to draw visitors from across the region.
Volunteer opportunities range from admissions and parking attendants to historic house tour guides, hospitality workers and social media assistants.
Among the largest needs are vendor setup and grounds crews, which require 18 volunteers across three shifts, along with parking support, where 15 volunteers are needed to help direct traffic across four designated lots.
Additional opportunities include staffing the information tent, lost and found, entertainment and stage support, animal areas, reenactment and safety teams and general event assistance.
Organizers are also seeking volunteers to assist with historic house tours, VIP coordination and photography and social media coverage throughout the day.
Those who volunteer will receive free admission to the event, meals during their shift and a commemorative medallion. Community service credit also will be available.
Volunteers of all experience levels are welcome.
Anyone interested in helping can send a private message through The Cook Farm’s social media page or comment on the organization’s volunteer post.
No website signup is required and volunteers will be contacted directly to confirm shifts.
