Carmel Ann Calderone – Rostraver Township
ROSTRAVER TOWNSHIP Carmel Ann Calderone, 81, of Rostraver Township, went to be with the Lord on Saturd a y , March 14, 2026, sur rounded by family and friends. Born in Charleroi on Feb. 3, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Tony and Rose Bruno Calderone. Carmel graduated from Villa Victoria Academy in New Jersey and earned her Bachelor of Science degree at Seton Hall University. She was an elementary teacher for the Belle Vernon Area School District for 25 years. Carmel was strong in her religious faith and was an active member of the Church of St. Anne in Rostraver Township, where she served as lector, choir member, counter and the Confraternity of Christian Mothers. She was proud of her Italian heritage and kept family traditions instilled by her mother. Her parents operated the Twin Coaches Supper Club, and Carmel was the hostess at the Holiday Inn in Rostraver. She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and traveled all over the world with family and friends. She was always “dressed to the nines” and enjoyed shopping, dining out, going to the movies and going to the casino. Carmel always liked her sports cars. Many have described her as “one of a kind.” She will be deeply missed and always remembered. She is survived by brother, Anthony (Patricia) Calderone of Huntington Beach, Calif.; nephew, Philip (Lisa) Calderone of Huntington Beach, Calif.; niece, Lisa Rose Waite of Lilburn, Ga.; great-nephew, Dylan Calderone; great-nieces, Madison Calderone and Jessica Waite; cousins, Jim Bruno, Maria (Ken) Kite, Judy (Gary) Main, Regis Serinko, Doreen (Bob) Bergamasco and many other cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her nephew, Anthony Leonard Calderone. The family wants to thank Alix Garlitz, Carol Hennessy, Kim Tonini, Marcy Boyd and Rena Alford for all their support and care shown to Carmel. Friends will be received from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 22, 2026, at JAMES C. STUMP FUNERAL HOME INC., 580 Circle Drive, Rostraver Township, 724-929-7934, www.jamesstumpfuneralhome. com, where a blessing service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in the Church of St. Anne with the Rev. Joel Sayson presiding. Entombment will follow in Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Bag Brigade or to the Church of St. Anne.
