The new restaurant at Live! Casino Pittsburgh will showcase DeLallo Italian Market, the iconic local brand, the casino announced Monday.
The new eatery, Mangia, will open April 9 and “feature the best of DeLallo’s recipes and marketplace,” the casino said. It replaces Guy Fieri’s American Kitchen & Bar, which closed in the fall, said Sean Sullivan, general manager of the Hempfield casino.
“We had a great relationship with Guy’s from those five years,” Sullivan said. “It just ran its course here. We’ve got to keep introducing new, fun and exciting experiences for our guests.”
Mangia will feature a casual dining space alongside a market selling DeLallo products, including dried pastas, sauces, oils, spreads, meats, cheeses and chocolate-covered pretzels. Customers can choose from indoor or outdoor seating or order food to-go, with a menu featuring hoagies, pizza, pasta and salads.
The offerings also include gelato, Italian cream sodas, coffee and espresso. An express window will connect the restaurant directly to the casino floor, allowing guests to order food, drinks and desserts without leaving the action.
“I think it’s going to be well-received,” Sullivan said. “People love DeLallo’s around here. They’ve done a great job for over 75 years.”
The fourth-generation, family- owned business, founded in 1950, sells its products in grocery stores nationwide and operates its landmark storefront along Route 30 on the border of Jeannette and Hempfield.
Giuliana Pozzuto, a DeLallo spokesperson, called that 75-year-old market “still at the heart of who we are today — a place where generations of families have shopped for the foods and baked goods they grew up with and continue to share around their tables.
“Collaborating with Live Casino on Mangia is especially meaningful because it brings some of our most loved marketplace recipes and products into an exciting new setting. Seeing those longtime customer favorites featured in a high-profile destination like this is incredibly special, as it celebrates the rich Italian heritage that has been part of this community for generations.
“Over the years, we’ve grown into a nationally recognized brand of premium Italian foods sold in supermarkets across the country, but our commitment to quality and heritage has never changed,” Pozzuto said.
A “noodle cutting,” held in place of a traditional ribbon cutting, is scheduled for April 8. Steven Schirripa, known for his role as Bobby Baccalieri in the HBO series “The Sopranos,” will attend the event.
Mangia will be open 11 a.m. to midnight Sunday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
