RWNES issues alert about subscription notice mixup
A nearby ambulance provider mistakenly sent notices to homes in the RWNES coverage area.
Rostraver West Newton Emergency Services is advising residents that Mutual Aid EMS, a neighboring ambulance provider, inadvertently mailed its annual subscription notices to some households within the RWNES coverage area.
In a public notice released Feb. 7, RWNES emphasized that it remains the designated 911 emergency medical service provider for the communities it serves despite the mailing confusion.
Officials said the agency responds to more than 10,000 calls annually across its service area.
RWNES’ official annual subscription program runs from March 1 through Feb. 28, and its own subscription mailers will be sent soon.
Subscription rates for 2026 are $70 for an individual plan covering the named subscriber and $80 for a household plan covering all residents and visitors at the address. Business subscriptions are offered at $300 for companies with one to 25 employees, $350 for 26 to 50 employees and $450 for 51 to 100 employees.
Officials said the membership is not an insurance policy, but is designed to reduce out-of-pocket costs for emergency ambulance transport when RWNES is the responding provider by covering portions of bills that insurance may not pay after deductibles are met.
Non-emergency services such as wheelchair van transport are not included, though subscribers may receive discounted rates for those services.
RWNES provides coverage in parts of Westmoreland, Fayette and Washington counties, including North Belle Vernon, Rostraver Township, Smithton, South Huntingdon Township, Sutersville and West Newton in Westmoreland County; Belle Vernon, Jefferson Township, Perryopolis and Washington Township in Fayette County; and Allenport, Charleroi, Donora, Dunlevy, Elco, Fallowfield Township, Long Branch, North Charleroi, Roscoe, Speers, Stockdale and Twilight in Washington County.
