Thermal imaging aids in search

Fallowfield Township firefighters assisted the California Volunteer Fire Department in a search for the driver of a vehicle that crashed Sunday evening in Coal Center. Fallowfield firefighters used one of their drones with thermal capabilities. After searching the area for approximately 10 minutes, the operators located what they thought could be an individual in a wooded area. Firefighters on the ground were sent toward the location and were guided to the mark by the drone operators watching on the thermal screen. With the collaborative efforts of the drone team and firefighters on the ground, they located the crash victim, who was treated by a waiting ambulance crew.
