EF School District sues insurance company
The legal action alleges “continued failure” by CM Regent to fund construction work at the high school.
The construction drama continues at Elizabeth Forward High School.
The school district announced Tuesday it has filed a lawsuit against its insurance provider, CM Regent Insurance Company, due to its “continued failure” to adequately address damages and fund the rebuilding of the high school following a 2023 fire.
According to a release from the district and its solicitor, John Rushford, they will work with David Strassburger of Strassburger, McKenna Gutnick & Getsky to manage litigation.
“Despite extensive efforts over many months, the District has been unable to secure a fair and timely resolution for the insurance claim,” the statement reads. “The Elizabeth Forward School Board is committed to pursuing all necessary legal avenues to ensure CM Regent meets its obligations.”
This announcement comes after last week’s vote from the school board to approve the lowest bids for Phase 2 of high school construction.
