Robert R. Hammond – Elizabeth Township

ELIZABETH TOWNSHIP Robert R. Hammond, age 75, of Elizabeth Township, passed away on Nov. 11, 2025. Robert was born and raised in East Liverpool, Ohio. He graduated from East Live rpool High School and went on to have a prolific career in the print publishing business. He worked as a general manager for the Tribune-Review and held positions at the Daily News of McKeesport and Valley Independent of Monessen. His most recent accomplishment was his instrumental role in the expansion of the Mon Valley Independent into the McKeesport area. A passionate businessman, he was also the vice president of the Mon Yough Chamber of Commerce. When he was off the newsroom floor he could be found relaxing on a golf course or hunting for treasures in the antique shops. An avid collector, Robert had a keen eye for antiques and sports memorabilia, with a particular fondness for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates, and the West Virginia Mountaineers. He also had a part-time job working in the Pittsburgh Live Casino. This role gave him the opportunity to mingle and make friends in the exciting casino atmosphere. He will be remembered for his big heart, his great sense of humor, and his unwavering willingness to help others. Robert is survived by two sons, Seth and Christina Hammond and John and Alisha Hammond; grandchildren, Otis and Sully; his sister, Jill Hammond; one niece and four nephews. Robert was preceded in death by his spouse, Jane Ann Delong-Hammond; and his parents, Robert and Ruth Jean Hammond. Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for visitation from 3 to 6 p.m. on Saturday. Nov. 15, 2025, at JEFFERSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236. A funeral service will be held immediately following in the funeral home chapel.
