Live! Casino to celebrate 5th anniversary

For the MVI

The Cordish Companies’ Live! Casino Pittsburgh announced plans for a weeklong fifth anniversary celebration, taking place Nov. 17–23, to honor the community, loyal guests and dedicated team members.

The festivities will feature big cash giveaways, bonus jackpots and prizes throughout the week, including a random cash handout to guests by a Live! Casino executive. The celebration will also include awarding Bahama cruises to 10 lucky team members and the dedication of a newly installed flag display court, featuring American, Pennsylvania and Live! Casino flags at the property’s main entrance as part of the casino’s enhanced Military Appreciation Program.

“Since opening our doors on Nov. 17, 2020, our focus has always been on making a difference in southwestern Pennsylvania and here in Westmoreland County,” said Joe Billhimer, chief operating and development officer of Cordish Gaming Group. “Our fifth anniversary is really a way to celebrate the work we’ve done together, and to thank our valued guests, our dedicated team members and the tremendous sacrifices made by our active members of the military, veterans and their spouses.”

All week long, guests can enjoy a series of promotions and giveaways, culminating with a $50,000 cash drawing on Nov. 21. Food and drink specials at Sports & Social Steel City — voted Best Sports Bar in PA — will include $5 margaritas, giant pretzels, loaded nachos and signature fries.

Additionally, Live! Casino will celebrate its team members, the backbone of the operation. Throughout the week, Live! will hold drawings to give away 10 all-expenses- paid cruises to the Bahamas. To help celebrate the holiday, 500 free turkeys will be provided for family Thanksgiving celebrations. Finally, 147 team members who have been with Live! Casino since it opened will be awarded a special fiveyear pin.

On Nov. 20, Steelers legend and U.S. Army veteran Rocky Bleier will be on hand for the dedication of a new flag display court at the casino’s main entrance, which builds on Live!’s longstanding commitment to our nation’s active and retired military, including Hero Appreciation Wednesday celebrations, complimentary meals on Veterans Day, regular prize drawings, discounts on dining, and a special “Veteran Card” under the Live! Rewards program that includes spouses. Pittsburgh-based singer Jeff Jimerson will sing the national anthem. Jimerson is well-known for performing at Pittsburgh Penguins games and recently at the U.S. Open at Oakmont in July.

“We can’t wait to celebrate with our guests, the community and our amazing team members who make going to work so enjoyable each day,” said Live! Casino General Manager Sean Sullivan. “From big jackpots to car cruises, from job fairs to concerts and everything in between, it’s been a terrific first five years at Live! Casino. And we’re just getting started.”

From an overall economic impact standpoint, the Live! Casino facility has generated $800 million in investments to the economy since opening in 2020. Live! has paid almost $230 million in taxes, including nearly $60 million last year. An additional $160 million was invested in construction and $175 million in employee compensation/ benefits, goods and services. Live! Casino also has donated $700,000 to local charities through the Mega Money Bingos and quarterly Live! Giveback Box program. Beyond investments and donations, jackpot winnings by customers have totaled more than $333 million in payouts since opening.
