MVI sales rep Rob Hammond dies at 75

He was instrumental in the paper’s expansion into McKeesport and other Mon Valley communities.

A beloved member of the Mon Valley Independent newspaper team passed away Monday.

MVI sales representative Robert R. Hammond of Elizabeth Township, a longtime newspaper industry veteran, died at the age of 75.

Prior to joining the sales team at the Mon Valley Independent, he worked for many years as a division general manager for the Tribune-Review, overseeing the operations of the former Valley Independent in Monessen and the Daily News in McKeesport.

A well-known member of the business community, he was vice president of the Mon Yough Chamber of Commerce. Rob was also instrumental in helping the Mon Valley Independent expand into McKeesport and Mon-Yough area communities. A full obituary and funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time.
