Luenetta B. Mason – Rostraver Township

ROSTRAVER TOWNSHIP Evangelist Luenetta B. Mason, 84, of Rostraver Township, slept away peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2025, at Allegheny General Hosp ital. She was born on Oct. 1, 1941, in Monongahela, to the late Rene Booker and Willa Mae Peake Booker. Luenetta worked for the Department of Welfare as a case worker until her retirement. She was a former member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, where her late husband pastored. She was a former superintendent of the Sunday school and choir member. She later became a member of Gate of Heaven COGIC under the leadership of Bishop William Bass. She was a very active and productive member at her church for many years. Luenetta was loved by many and had a heart of gold. Her smile was contagious, and her personality was endearing. She truly was a proud mother and grandmother. She leaves to cherish her memory one son, Royal “Barry” (Demetrice) Mason of Delaware; daughters, Rowena Mason (Charles Bush) of Belle Vernon and Melody Anderson of Washington, D.C.; brother, Tyrone (Jolethea) Askew of Richmond, Va.; sister, Marie (Phillip) Lanier of Monessen; granddaughter, Desiree Lyon of Columbus, Ohio; godson, William “Billy” (Rhonda) Allen of Atlanta, Ga.; and a very dear sister friend of over 60 years, Willa Mae Floyd of Monessen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her late husband, the Rev. Griffin E. Mason; brothers, Samuel Askew and Captain Jimmy Eddie “Buddy” Booker; and sisters, Rosie Mae Anderson and Lottie Jones. Visitation for family and friends will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2025, and from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, 2025, at which time service will begin at Gate of Heaven COGIC, 644 Reed Ave., Monessen, PA 15062, with Bishop William Bass officiating. Interment will be at Mon Valley Memorial Park, Second St. Ext., Donora, PA 15033. Arrangements entrusted to WILLIAM R. TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME, 645 McMahon Ave., Monessen, PA 15062, Trudy L. Taylor, director in charge, 724684-4877. In lieu of flowers, donations to be made to GEM of Mt. Calvary and the youth ministry of Gate of Heaven.
