Donora man charged with animal cruelty
A Donora man is charged with animal cruelty after someone shared videos of him allegedly hitting a dog.
Shawn Dougles Anderson, 27, was charged with two counts of cruelty to animals stemming from the alleged incident at his Meldon Avenue residence on Oct. 3, court records state.
According to a police complaint, someone sent two videos of Anderson hitting a dog to Humane Society Police Officer, Gretchen Grasser, who is employed by the Washington Area Humane Society.
On Oct. 13, Grasser received a complaint that Anderson had been physically abusing a medium-sized black mixed-breed dog. The person who submitted the complaint said they had the two videos, in which Anderson is allegedly seen punching and kicking the dog.
Grasser obtained both videos, and the first one, dated Oct. 8, allegedly shows Anderson striking the dog on his right side with a closed right hand. Grasser said the dog let out an ear-piercing squeal in the video.
The second video, dated Oct. 3, shows Anderson allegedly kicking the dog on its right side.
Anderson is scheduled for a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Mark Wilson at 1 p.m. Nov 19.
