Charges filed in Valley stabbing
A Monongahela man was arrested early Sunday after police say he stabbed another man during a fight inside a home on Second Street.
Elijah Glenn Davis, 23, of Monongahela, is charged with aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person and two counts of simple assault.
According to an affidavit of probable cause, police were dispatched to 430 Second St. around 12:44 a.m. for a domestic incident involving injuries.
When officers arrived, they found Davis in the front yard and immediately detained him due to what they described as a history of violent behavior.
Inside the home, officers found Daniel Helmantoler lying on the floor surrounded by small amounts of blood. Helmantoler told police he had been stabbed.
EMS located the suspected weapon — a red-handled straight blade knife with a drop of blood on it — and secured it with gloves.
Helmantoler suffered several injuries, including bite marks on his forearms, a large brush burn on his back, a puncture wound on his left forearm and a bump on his head.
He told officers the altercation began when he tried to help Davis with something before a fight broke out.
Davis is being held in the Washington County jail in lieu of $50,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is set for 9:45 a.m. Oct. 27 before Magisterial District Judge Eric Porter.
