Vehicle in weekend shooting found

By SARAH PELLIS spellis@yourmvi.com

Police have located a vehicle believed to be connected to a Sunday afternoon shooting that left one person dead in White Oak.

White Oak Police Chief Jason Binder said the Allegheny County Police Department’s Homicide Unit is in charge of the case and responded to a request for assistance.

Around 2:18 p.m., county 9-1-1 was notified of a shooting in the intersection of Jacks Run Road and Lincoln Way near the Wendy’s location, a release from Allegheny County Police states.

First responders found an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Our news partners at WTAE stated that the Allegheny County medical examiner’s office identified the victim as Kenneth Hayman, 33, of McKeesport.

Witnesses told WTAE it appears Hayman was gunned down while on a motorcycle. They said they heard around nine gunshots and a car speeding away.

Binder said because the investigation is open, the White Oak and Allegheny County police departments cannot confirm who was involved.

County police located a dark-colored Chevrolet Silverado believed to be connected to the incident Monday, the release stated. The location where the vehicle was found was not made public by police.

The vehicle is believed to have been occupied by three to four males with face coverings. Authorities advise that they may be armed with long guns and should be considered armed and extremely dangerous.

State Sen. Nick Pisciottano told Binder and White Oak council Monday that his office along with other legislators is available to help with the case in any way they can.

Also at the meeting, White Oak Mayor Ina Jean Marton commended Binder, who is a relatively new chief, for dealing with the shooting.

No arrests had been made as of Monday afternoon.

Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to call the County Police Tip Line 1-833-ALLTIPS. Callers can remain anonymous.
