Funds being raised for victim of electrical incident

By LADIMIR GARCIA lgarcia@yourmvi.com

A fundraiser has been launched by the family of a man who was severely hurt in an electrical incident last week.

Cole Naylor was electrocuted Oct. 3 by an electrical wire while doing a roofing project. The incident has resulted in severe burns and injuries, and the family is seeking assistance to help cover medical costs.

Cole Naylor’s brother, Dalton Naylor, started a GoFundMe page, and is planning a spaghetti dinner. Dalton Naylor stated that his brother is expected to be hospitalized for another three to five weeks.

“He’s very lucky to be alive, and he still has a long way to go,” Dalton Naylor said. “He’s still in the ICU right now. He has pretty extensive burns from the incident they’re treating right now. He’s had several procedures done already, just trying to help fix up those wounds, and he still has a few. He actually has one scheduled for (Friday), and a few upcoming as well. So he definitely has a long journey ahead.”

As of Friday, they had received $11,805 toward their $15,000 goal on their GoFundMe fundraiser. The donation page can be found at https://gofund.me/d916c44a3.

The spaghetti dinner will take place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 25 at the Fairhope Rod and Gun Club, located at 1393 Fayette Ave. in Belle Vernon.

Dalton Naylor said that it’s been great to see how much of the community has already come together to help his family and called it a touching experience.

Cole Naylor and his fiancée, Avery Smith, are raising a daughter, Brooklyn, and recently found out that another baby is on the way in May or June of next year. That makes this an especially challenging time for them.

“Any little bit helps for him,” Dalton Naylor said. “I know I’m biased because he’s my brother, but he’s just generally one of the most caring people I know. It’s just really kind of a sudden, shocking thing for them right now, that’s kind of rocked their world, and he has a very long journey ahead to recovery.

“He has a lot of weight on his shoulders, just raising his family and his daughters. So any little contribution will help him and his recovery and help him focus on his recovery. Even any thoughts and prayers are appreciated too.”

Cole Naylor of Belle Vernon is still hospitalized after being shocked by a live wire.
