Robert George Wassil – Rostraver Township

ROSTRAVER TOWNSHIP Robert George Wassil, 87, of Rostraver Township, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2025, in the same house in which he was born. He was born i n Rostraver Township on July 14, 1938, son of the late George and Ann Bozik Wassil. Bob was retired from the U.S. Steel Clairton Works, where he worked in management. At U.S. Steel he was affectionately known as “Horse’s Ass” by all his co-workers! He was a member of the former Holy Cross Church in Webster and was currently a member of the Church of St. Anne in Rostraver Township. Bob was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan, always cheering for the Pirates, Penguins and Steelers. He loved spending time in his cabin in Cook’s Forest. He was a wonderful family man and he and Norma always attended all his grandkids’ sporting events. Bob honorably served his country in the U.S. Army. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Norma Jean (Troy) Wassil; daughter, Bobbie Jean (Robert) Duda of Donora; son, Scott E. (Mary Ann) Wassil of Rostraver; grandchildren, Brianne Avau, Brittany Ulander, Brooke Duda- Prunty (Brett), Robert Duda Jr. and Jakob Wassil; and great-grandchildren, Vienna Avau and Emberlee Avau. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Kelley Ann Wassil Ulander. Per Bob’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral service.
