Daniel Hammerash – North Belle Vernon
NORTH BELLE VERNON Daniel Hammerash, 81, of North Belle Vernon, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2025. Born Aug. 26, 1944, in North Charleroi, he was the son of the late William and Laura Kwiatkowski Hammerash. A lifelong resident of North Belle Vernon, he was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel’s Allenport plant, where he worked as a stocker. He was a member of the Belle Vernon Musical Society. Dan was known for always having a nice car and always keeping it spotless. In his younger days, he was a scratch golfer and most weekends he spent on the links, either in South Carolina or on the local courses. On Saturdays when the Pitt Panthers were playing at home, he could be found in Oakland at “The O” pre-game and then at the stadium. He was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, William J. and Gerri (Rathway) Hammerash. He is survived by two nieces, Shelley Battaglia of Port Matilda, Pa., and Tracey Scott of Perryopolis; and one nephew, William J. Hammerash Jr of Ellicott City, Md., as well as four great-nephews, five great-nieces, two great-grand-nephews and one great-grand-niece. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery at noon Friday, Oct. 10, 2025.
