Driver injured after hitting tree in Lincoln Borough crash

By TAYLOR BROWN, Senior Reporter

A serious crash shut down Lovedale Road in Lincoln Borough for nearly five hours Tuesday afternoon after a truck pulling a dump trailer veered off the roadway and struck a tree.

The incident happened shortly after 3 p.m. near Mill Hill.

According to police, the truck was traveling uphill on the Lincoln side of Lovedale when it crossed the road and crashed into the hillside.

It landed in a tree and the driver, who was not identified, was ejected from the vehicle.

Bystanders provided medical aid before first responders arrived.

Lincoln Borough VFC #1 and Elizabeth Township Fire Department responded to the scene, and the driver was taken to Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh by ambulance. His condition was not available at press time.

Lovedale Road was closed in both directions from Mill Hill to McKeesport Road during the emergency response and cleanup.

In addition to Lincoln Borough and Elizabeth Township, Blaine Hill VFC, SouthEast Regional EMS, Lincoln Borough and Elizabeth Township police departments and C&D Towing & Recovery Inc. assisted at the scene.

It was the second crash Tuesday on Lovedale Road.

Earlier in the morning a two-vehicle accident occurred near the Carriage Inn, with no injuries reported.
