Roberts Hollow Road closure to be extended

Forward Township’s Warren Hill Road will also close until December for bridge repairs.

By the MVI

Allegheny County’s Department of Public Works announced Thursday that an existing closure on Roberts Hollow Road will be lengthened, and Warren Hill Road will close in Forward Township starting at 9 a.m. Monday.

The closures, which are expected to end in December, are required to replace Fallen Timber Run Bridge No. 6, including roadway work, utility work, new pavement markings and guide rail replacement.

Roberts Hollow Road has been closed from Warren Hill Road to Wall Road since March 10 for the replacement of Fallen Timber Run Bridge No. 5 and 7.

While Fallen Timber Run Bridge No. 6 is being replaced, Roberts Hollow Road will be closed from Hayden Boulevard (Route 51) to Wall Road.

Roberts Hollow Road traffic will continue to be detoured using Hayden Boulevard (Route 51), Hutchinson Road and Mentor Road. Warren Hill Road traffic will be detoured using Williamsport Road, Wall Road, Roberts Hollow Road, Mentor Road, Hutchinson Road and Hayden Boulevard (Route 51).

Residents who live on Roberts Hollow Road and Warren Hill Road will continue to have access to their homes at all times, and drivers will still be able to access the businesses on Roberts Hollow Road.

Drivers will not be able to travel through the intersection of Roberts Hollow Road and Warren Hill Road or through the work zone on Roberts Hollow Road just south of Warren Hill Road.

Pugliano Construction Company of Plum is the prime construction contractor for the $1.4 million project, which includes the replacement of Fallen Timber Run Bridge Nos. 5, 6 and 7.

Roberts Hollow Road is used by an average of 1,726 drivers daily, and Warren Hill Road is used by an average of 669 drivers daily.

Fallen Timber Run Bridge No. 6 has a bridge condition rating of 4 (poor condition) on a 0-9 scale based on National Bridge Inspection Standards established by the Federal Highway Administration.
