Valley man dies after long SWAT situation
The standoff lasted about eight hours.
A man died of a suspected suicide after an hours-long SWAT situation in Monongahela.
Washington County Coroner Tim Warco said Zachry Hamilton, 36, barricaded himself inside his home following a report made to Washington County 911 around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Police responded to the home at the corner of Fourth and Hayes streets for an alleged domestic dispute.
SWAT teams used a drone and saw Hamilton unresponsive from an apparent gunshot wound after several hours and the Washington County coroner was called in.
Hamilton was pronounced dead at the scene around 1:50 a.m. Thursday.
This incident is being investigated as a suspected suicide.
Police were assisted on scene by Washington County SWAT, Beaver County SWAT, Charleroi Regional Police, Carroll Township Police, Tri-Community EMS and Southeast Regional EMS.
The incident is under investigation by Monongahela police, who could not be reached for comment.
