By TAYLOR BROWN, Senior Reporter

The first-ever community event will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

A block party will bring businesses and the community together this week in Monongahela to sip, shop and enjoy all the things a small-town summer can offer.

The businesses of Monongahela and New Eagle will host the first-ever Summer on Main Block Party from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

The event, which will take place along Main Street, is free and open to the public.

Organized by the Women in Business group of Monongahela and New Eagle, the block party aims to celebrate the local business community while offering a fun and welcoming environment for residents and visitors of all ages.

“The Women in Business group of Monongahela and New Eagle has joined forces to host the town’s first ever block party, focusing on fun, business discovery and community building,” said Bonnie Brand, owner of Uncommonly Beautiful. “There will be games, live music, food trucks and plenty of local vendors. Parking spots in front of the businesses will be blocked off for additional fun. What could be better?”

Attendees can expect a vibrant and festive atmosphere, complete with kid-friendly activities, community engagement and opportunities to explore what Main Street businesses have to offer.

Business will offer specials and stay open late for extended hours for the festival.

The Summer on Main Block Party is part of an ongoing effort to encourage foot traffic, promote local entrepreneurship and build a stronger sense of community throughout Monongahela and New Eagle.

Between bites, guests will be able to enjoy a variety of entertainment along Main Street.

From 4 to 8 p.m., Nate Frost will perform at the Mon Valley Alliance, students will perform at From the Top Music Shop, The Drunken Hippie will host karaoke and Jimmy Braum will play at Uncommonly Beautiful.

From 5 to 7 p.m., classic pianist Kristopher White will play at Industrial Farmhouse Living and classic pianist Khalil White will play at Wood & Wick. Electric guitar player and vocalist Carter Hull will perform at Sweets by Mrs. C from 5 to 5:30 p.m. and Cloud 9 Studio from 6 to 6:30 p.m.

From 6 to 8 p.m., Todd Jones will perform in the gravel lot across from Napa Auto Parts, and The Valley Three will play on Main Street at Key Bank.

Along with music, food and tasty drinks, there will be games, vendors and other activities along Main Street, including Nikki Cox (henna artist), Happy Juice Bar, HomieB Glass, braid and feather bar by Bad Wolf Studio, pottery demonstrations with Theresa Campa, block print demonstrations by Sara Brown, glitter tattoos by Tamlynn Bachetti, a photo booth by Studio 47 Portraits, balloon artist Lenova, face painting by Julia Di-Carlo (Douglas School) and Dana Harris and hair braiding by Julia DiCarlo (Douglas School).
