Belle Vernon gearing up for annual Block Party

By TAYLOR BROWN, Senior Reporter

The 12th annual event on Saturday will raise money for parks in Belle Vernon and North Belle Vernon.

The 12th Annual Belle Vernon Block Party, Bike Run and Car Show will take place Saturday afternoon.

Broad Avenue in North Belle Vernon will be closed from Vine to Grant Street as vendors, food trucks, and vintage cars, bikes and trucks will line the avenue to raise money for a good cause.

All proceeds from the event, sponsored by Just A Tavern and Minniti Motor Sports, will benefit the Belle Vernon and North Belle Vernon parks.

The event will begin with registration for the bike run at 10 a.m.

A blessing of the bikes will be held at 11 a.m. before kickstands go up at 11:15 a.m.

Usually 50 motorcycles participate in the ride, that starts from North Belle Vernon’s Community Bank Park on Graham Street.

Bikers typically return back to the block party by 4 p.m., but entertainment, vendors and food trucks will be open all afternoon into the evening. The car show will begin at noon with registrations.

In the past, up to 50 cars of all makes and models have participated, with trophies given in various categories.

The car show will run from Vine to Grant Street.

Entertainment will also keep guests dancing throughout the day with Fynal Tyme 2 as the headliner this year.

The band will play from 7 to 10 p.m.

There will be several vendors and food trucks set up along the avenue for residents to shops, grab lunch or other refreshments.

There will also be volunteers selling tickets for a half-the-take and basket auction throughout the day that features prizes donated from community organizations, groups and businesses.

To preregister for the bike run or to make a donation, call Minniti Motorsports at 724-929-0111. Registration is $20 per rider, which includes a T-shirt and $15 for each passenger. Dinner is provided to all riders and passengers after the run.
