Several Belle Vernon Area Rotary Club members were honored with the prestigious Paul Harris Fellow Award.

The highest honor bestowed by the club, the Paul Harris Fellow Award is named after Rotary International’s founder, Paul Harris, and is granted to individuals who demonstrate outstanding dedication to the principles of Rotary and make significant contributions to their community, both locally and globally.

During the Rotary’s recent President’s Night at Corelone’s Bar and Grill in Rostraver Township, Paul Harris awards were given to Matt Damich, for his diligent work as treasurer, Denise Sztroin for her efforts in a recycling project and more, and to Chris Giannamore (two-time honoree), for her constant coordination of activities with the Belle Vernon Area and Frazier Interact clubs.

The evening also included the tradition of the current president handing over the gavel to the new president. Fred Foster was recognized and thanked for a tremendous year and congratulations were extended to Debby Puglia, who will lead the club through the next Rotary year.

Puglia announced the new slate of officers, and the board members who will serve through 2026: Vice President Giannamore, Secretary Brian Pirilla and Treasurer Damich.

Board members, which includes the officers, will be Foster, Tom Yoder, Deb Keefer, Sztroin and Mike Carney.

Pirilla was also handed the post office key for his new stint as secretary.

Puglia reviewed the Rotary’s accomplishments over the past year:

• Securing a district grant that resulted in a $6,000 donation of equipment to Joy Riders, a disability bike rider program
