BVA Rotary scholarship winners
The Rotary Club of Belle Vernon Area recently awarded $12,500 in scholarships to Belle Vernon area and Frazier graduates during a June 5 meeting at Cedarbrook Clubhouse Grill. Shown, from left, are Frazier graduate Olivia Girasia, who received a four-year scholarship; and BVA graduates Jack Chovan (fouryear scholarship) and Kayleah Reynolds (two-year scholarship) The awardees, who were accompanied by their parents for the presentation, read their essays on “Service Above Self” and shared their future plans with the club. Also in attendance was special guest Alice Wassilchalk Breckenridge who was the first recipient of a BVA Rotary club scholarship in 1989. She earned her degree in elementary education and has taught at Marion Elementary for 30 years. Rotary Scholarship Selection Committee members are Chris Giannamore, Tom Yoder and John Habel. The Belle Vernon Rotary Club was established in 1933, and serves the communities in the Belle Vernon Area and Frazier school districts.
