Doris C. Conti Zeli – McMurray, formerly of Monessen

MCMURRAY, FORMERLY OF MONESSEN Doris C. Conti Zeli, 93, of McMurray, passed away May 24, 2025, at Ridgecrest of Mc Murray. Born in Monessen on Aug. 11, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Julius R. Conti, a prominent pharmacist in Monessen for many years, and Carrie Mitchell Conti Rossi. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Zeli, who passed away Feb. 15, 2007. Growing up in Monessen during the 1930s and 1940s, Doris set two goals for herself: she wanted to marry and have children, and she wanted to be an elementary school teacher. She achieved both goals before her passing. Doris resided in Rostraver Township for many years prior to moving to McMurray, was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church in Belle Vernon, was a graduate of Monessen High School in 1949, attended Mt. Mercy College, now Carlow University, and received her master’s degree in education from what was then California State College. She taught at St. Sebastian School in Belle Vernon and in the Belle Vernon Area School District, from which she retired in 1993. She was a student teacher supervisor for California University of Pennsylvania and a past member of both the P.S.E.A., and the A.F.T. She was inducted into Kappa Delta Pi, an Honor Society in Education in 1971, and to Phi Delta Kappa, a professional Fraternity in Education in 1981, and held membership in the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees. In 1987, she received the Distinguished Service Award from the Belle Vernon Area School District. She is survived by a daughter, Laura (Robert) Reilly of Canonsburg; a son, William (Julie Uhlman) Zeli of Murrysville; four grandchildren,
