WPIAL announces baseball playoffs

The WPIAL announced the playoff seedings for nine Mon Valley baseball teams on Friday as area teams will hope to add to a long list of champions on the diamond.

In all, local squads account for one top-seed, one two-seed, one three-seed, two teams ranked fifth, a nine-seed, two 11-seeds and one 15th ranked squad.

Starting in Class 5A, Thomas Jefferson will slot in as the No. 5 seed and take on No. 12 Upper St. Clair at West Mifflin on Wednesday. First pitch is slated for 7 p.m.
