Funding put on hold for tourism agency

Agency president Jeff Kotula said he was “blindsided” by the commissioners’ decision.

The Washington County Tourism Promotion Agency may not receive funding through future hotel tax reimbursements until alleged financial concerns are addressed.

In a 2-1 margin, Washington County Commissioners voted Thursday to withhold money for the WCTPA.

Chairman Nick Sherman and Commissioner Electra Janis voted in favor of the move, with Commissioner Larry Maggi opposing it.
