Lorraine Smith announces candidacy for Charleroi Borough Council seat

Lorraine Smith, a 15-year resident of Charleroi and dedicated community member, is proud to announce her candidacy for Charleroi Borough Council.
A registered Republican, Smith said she brings a strong spirit of service, deep community roots, and a renewed vision for Charleroi’s future.
“I’ve lived here for 15 years and come to love Charleroi’s people, potential, and history,” said Smith. “But the ‘Magic City’ magic is fading, and I believe we can turn that around together.”
Smith is a 1978 graduate of General Braddock High School and currently works as a personal care assistant. Over the years, she’s been involved with Project DARE, the PTA, and Junior Achievement, reflecting a lifelong commitment to serving others.
Her priorities include preserving local businesses, attracting new jobs, and restoring a sense of pride and economic vitality in the borough.
“I’m not a politician—I’m a worker, a neighbor, a mother, a grandmother and someone who truly cares,” she said. “We need to act now to keep our jobs, protect our businesses, and build the Charleroi we all want for future generations.”
Lorraine is a proud mother of four, grandmother of nine, and great-grandmother of one. Her family-focused values fuel her campaign and commitment to real, positive change.
“I would be honored to have your support. Let’s bring back the promise, the pride, and the magic of Charleroi.”
