Unconcious man on boat gets flown to hospital
Charleroi firefighters responded to the incident early Monday morning at a Speers boat dock.
Firefighters were called to a boat dock in Speers early Monday morning for a reported medical incident.
Charleroi Fire Chief Robert Whiten Jr. said the call came in around 3:15 a.m. as a reported trauma.
Whiten was unclear what caused the incident, but said when crews arrived to the dock a man who had been working on a boat was unresponsive.
Whiten said the incident happened on the water, and the crew brought the boat to shore where they were met by first responders.
He believes the man may have tripped while working on the boat and became unconscious.
Firefighters helped members from Rostraver West Newton Emergency Services remove the man from the boat and administer patient care before he was transported by LifeFlight to a Pittsburgh-area hospital to be treated.
Firefighters and EMS were assisted on scene by Charleroi Regional police.
Crews were on scene for approximately one hour.
