Charleroi Area opts for remote learning due to outbreak of illness
Charleroi Area School District decided that today will be a remote learning day due to widespread illness.
A letter sent out Thursday cited a “rapid increase in student, teacher and district support staff absences caused by Influenza A (Type A) and strep illnesses.”
It stated that the decision to hold classes remotely was made after consultation among administrators and school nurses and is focused on “the well-being of our school community.”
Students are following their remote learning schedules, and teachers are providing instruction and assignments through Google Classroom.
All after-school activities scheduled for today have been canceled, including Elementary Date Night.
District offices remain open with limited staff members who will attend to any urgent needs
