• Union Township was struggling with a severe financial crisis. In a meeting packed with residents demanding answers, the chairman of the board of township supervisors pointed to a statement he made last year. Steve Parian said, “I said last year with the budget, we were headed for bankruptcy. Some of you laughed at me.” Secretary-Treasurer Monica Cunningham shared details of the township’s problems saying that at the end of the year they owed $138.332 in outstanding bills and that they currently owe more than $90,000. With just $55,000 in its payroll account, Pariah predicted that the township will run out of money after Feb. 25.
