Vaughn Eric Hewitt – Dayton, Ohio, formerly of North Belle Vernon

DAYTON, OHIO, FORMERLY OF NORTH BELLE VERNON Vaughn Eric Hewitt, 61, of Dayton, Ohio, formerly of North Belle Vernon, departed this life surrounded by f ami l y o n Thurs day, Jan. 23, 2025. Born on July 20, 1963, in Charler oi, Vaughn was the beloved son of William and Saundra Hewitt. He was raised with love by his grandparents, Benjamin E. Butler and Christella Butler. A proud graduate of Belle Vernon Area High School, Class of 1982, Vaughn was a standout football player, earning All-Conference honors on both offense and defense. His athletic excellence was recognized with his induction into the Belle Vernon Hall of Fame in 2021. He furthered his education at Potomac State College in West Virginia and Indiana University of Pennsylvania. A U.S. Navy veteran, Vaughn carried a deep sense of pride in his service. He was also a devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan who had a sharp sense of style, a love for fine cologne and an appreciation for a good steak and French fries. Faith played a significant role in Vaughn’s life. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir and played the trumpet. His professional career spanned 25 years at Martin Marietta Materials, where he built lasting friendships and earned the respect of his colleagues. One of Vaughn’s greatest achievements was his journey of 25 years of sobriety, a milestone that inspired and made his loved ones incredibly proud. Vaughn leaves behind a host of relatives and friends. Vaughn will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His kindness, resilience and unwavering spirit touched the lives of many. While we grieve his passing, we also celebrate a life well lived — a life of love, strength of character, and enduring legacy. A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, 2025, at Antioch Baptist Church, Belle Vernon. Interment following the service will be at Belle Vernon Cemetery with military honors.
