Rawland F. Ursits

FEB. 16, 1934 - FEB. 2, 2025 Rawland F. “Rawley” Ursits, age 90, passed peacefully from this world after a valiant battle with cancer, on Sunday, Feb. 2, 2025, at his daught e r ’ s home in Conway, S.C., where he had resided since 2019. He was reunited at long last with the love of his life, his wife, Donna Campbell Ursits and his beloved daughter, Karen Adams. Mr. Ursits was born on Feb. 16, 1934, in North Belle Vernon, son of the late Katharine Ursits Orr, and was later raised by his grandparents, the late Charles and Rose Ursits. In addition to his mother, grandparents, wife and daughter, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Michael Pegg. Mr. Ursits was a 1952 graduate of Belmar High School. He was a lifelong resident of Belle Vernon until he and his wife moved to Conway, S.C. in 2004. Mr. Ursits retired from U.S. Steel (USX) as a computer systems designer. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1956-58 and was stationed in South Korea. Mr. Ursits was a history buff, loved to read, dabble in the stock market and play Texas Hold ’Em poker. Although a die-hard Pittsburgh sports fan, he enjoyed watching University of Oklahoma girls softball and University of South Carolina girls basketball. Mr. Ursits was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Conway, the Pennsylvania Friends Social Group and was a life member of the North Belle Vernon Fire Department. Surviving are his two children, Dara Pegg (David Moreau Sr.) and Robert “Bob” Ursits (Antoinette), both of Conway; three grandchildren, who made him so proud, Joseph of Pittsburgh, and Anna Rose and Jonathan, both of Conway; his son-inlaw, Mike Adams of McDonald; his sister-in-law, Carol (Leslie) Lauder of Belle Vernon; niece, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends. The family requests any memorial donations, if so desired, be made to North Belle Vernon Fire Department, 535 Graham St., Belle Vernon, PA 15012 (Please put “In memory of Rawland Ursits” in the memo section), St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, your local library or a charity of your choice. No services will be held at this time. Although we mourn his death, we celebrate his freedom.
