Jeffrey ‘Jesse’ Podroskey – Monessen, formerly of Monongahela

MONESSEN, FORMERLY OF MONONGAHELA Jeffrey “Jesse” Podroskey, 66, of Monessen, formerly of Monongahela, died Monday, Jan. 20, 2025, in his home. He was born Oct. 9, 1958, in New Eagle, the son of James and Dorothy Ann “Duke” O’Neil Podroskey. Jesse was a 1977 graduate of Mon Valley Catholic High School, where he played football and basketball. Over the years, he became a PIAA baseball official and coached youth basketball. He was employed for many years in food sales and later worked as a custodian for the Upper Saint Clair and Ringgold school districts. He was a lover of music whose passion stemmed from his father, James, and cousin, renowned musician in the Pittsburgh area, Frank Podroskey. Jesse loved playing his harmonica and could always be found with one in his pocket. His favorite thing in life was being a Pap Pap to his grandsons, Leo and Logan. He is survived by three children, Jared (Erin) Podroskey of West Newton, and twins, Neal Podroskey of Playa Del Rey, Calif., and Erin (Chase) Kreger of Seattle, Wash.; two grandsons, Leo and Logan Podroskey; seven siblings, Nancy (Doug) Podroskey-Cole of Monongahela, James Podroskey of Monongahela, Barbara (Sam) Jackson of Belle Vernon, Michael Podroskey of Monongahela, Janet (Darryl) Tabish of Monongahela, Susie (Brian) Campolong of South Park, and Valerie (Alex) Bailes of Colorado Springs, Colo.; sister- in-law, Cathie Podroskey of Monongahela; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Mark “Podro” Podroskey. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 24, 2025, at FRYE FUNERAL HOME, 427 W. Main St., Monongahela, with the Rev. Doug Boyd officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Mon Valley Academy for the Arts, 309 5th St., Charleroi, PA 15022.
