Margaret Lou Singleton

Margaret Lou Singleton, a beloved matriarch and cherished member of her family, departed this life on Nov. 28, 2024, at the age of 76. Born on April 20, 1948, in Brownsville, Pa., Margaret was the daughter of Forest and Emma Russell, raised alongside her siblings in Grindstone, Pa. She graduated from Brownsville Area High School, where she was a spirited cheerleader, showcasing her vibrant personality from an early age. At the age of 16, Margaret met the love of her life, Lonnie Ray Singleton. The pair united in marriage in 1967, embarking on a journey together filled with love, laughter, and adventure. Margaret proudly held a commercial driver’s license (CDL), showcasing her skills as a devoted bus and truck driver throughout her career. Margaret had a talent for hair styling and an eye for artistic and crafty endeavors. Her family-oriented nature shone brightest in her love for her grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life. Margaret loved having a dog. Over the years, she always had a dog in her home, most recently her pup, Popcorn. Known for her competitive spirit, she participated in many family outings, relishing the simple pleasures of shopping, dining out, and enjoying snacks, particularly chocolate cake, chips and popcorn. Margaret’s enthusiasm for life extended to activities such as golfing and bowling. Her family will fondly remember her unique “nana-isms,” a delightful language of her own that only they could fully appreciate. Margaret is survived by her loving husband, Lonnie Ray Singleton; her three children, Lonnie (Keri) Singleton Jr., Sonya (Bill Jones) Singleton and Jermaine (Stacie Holmes) Singleton; her cherished grandchildren, Tiernie, Kylee, Lexi, Machai, Xavier, Shawyahna, Amber, William, Shyhyelle and Shehleill, Lonnie C., Athan and Alton; her five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister, Berneta Jones; and her brother, Ahmad Sirin. Margaret is predeceased by her parents. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, 2024, at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236. A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, 2024, at JEFFERSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL. Margaret Lou Singleton will be profoundly missed, and her legacy of love, laughter, and family will remain in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
