Charleroi schools evacuated over gas leak concerns

The odor was determined to be a result of Friday’s weather conditions.

The Charleroi Area School District campus was temporarily evacuated Friday morning as a precaution due to a smell of natural gas.

Superintendent Dr. Ed Zelich said the odor was due to weather conditions, explaining that because of atmospheric pressure, natural gas in the area did not evaporate as it typically does.
