Loretta Mae Smith – Monongahela

Loretta Mae Smith, 91, of Monongahela, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024, in Penn Highlands Mon Va l l e y Hospital. Born Oct. 28, 1932, in Victory Hill, she was the daughter of the late Ruben and Sterina Zermani Johnson. Loretta was a 1950 graduate of Monongahela High School. She was a secretary for Ringgold High School Athletic Department until her retirement in 2002. She was a member of the former St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Monongahela. Loretta enjoyed gardening, but most of all spending time and spoiling her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. She is survived by a son, Mark Smith of Monongahela; two daughters, Lisa (Scott) Henson of Monongahela and Marsha (Ron) Medved of Charleroi; a brother, Ruben (Sue) Johnson of Natrona Heights; a sister, Emily Anders of Virginia; three grandchildren, Corry and Collin Medved and Chloe Henson (Cameron) Yeignst; and one great-grandson, Conrad Henson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Joseph Smith; and her brother Donald Johnson. Services were private at the family’s request.
