Warriors tune up for showdown, TJ wins and loses

The Elizabeth Forward boys soccer team tuned up for its firstplace showdown Thursday with a lopsided win at Gladiators Stadium in a Section 3-2A contest on Tuesday night.

Aidan Davis led the way with a hat trick and an assist and teammate Dom Cavalier added a goal and three helpers for the Warriors’ offense.

Ethan Childers, Luca Valerio, Carson Ruffing, Bo Hallas and Vincenzo Riccardi each added goals for Elizabeth Forward (8-21, 7-0-1).

Valerio, Luke Holdren, Childers, Hallas and Ryan Stroschein had assists.

No scoring information for South Allegheny (3-7, 2-5) was reported.

The Warriors return home to take on South Park Thursday. The teams played to a scoreless draw in their first meeting back on Aug. 29.

South Allegheny travels to Mc-Guffey Thursday in a section game.

Charleroi 8, Southmoreland 2

Dylan Klinger finished with a hat trick and two assists to lead six different scorers as the Cougars (9-0, 8-0) took a bite out of the Scotties (7-4, 5-3) in a Section 4-2A matchup.

The Cougars and Scotties were tied 2-2 at the half, that was until Charleroi put six goals on the board in the final 40 minutes.

Otis McIntyre, Landon Barcus, Blake Pendo, Caleb Amoroso and Nolan Mosco each notched a goal for Charleroi.

Barcus finished with two assists. McIntyre, Luke Mazon and Nico Fiordigigli each added one helper.

The Cougars are back on the field tonight on the road at Waynesburg for a section tilt.

The Leopards broke open a close match with five second-half goals to roll to a Section 3-3A win on the Red Raiders’ home field.

Trevor Kovatch scored three of his four goals in the second half and Brandon Yeschenko added a pair of goals and two assists for the Leps (5-5, 2-5). Jesse Sobczak added the other tally for BVA.

Chris Showman added a pair of assists and Anthony Sawa added another.

Bryce Burkhart had four saves in goal and hit the scoresheet with an assist.

The Leopards are back in action at home Monday against Yough in a non-section rivalry game.

Ringgold 4, Albert Gallatin 0

After failing to score in their last two games, the Rams picked up a section win at home over the Colonials (1-8, 1-7) Tuesday.

Nick Evans had a pair of goals and Josh Molisee added a goal and an assist to lead the Rams (6-3-1, 5-11).

Lucas Wukovich added a goal and Nico Bove had an assist for Ringgold.

The Rams are back in action Thursday on the road at section foe Laurel Highlands.

Trinity Christian 9, Serra Catholic 1

The Falcons (7-2-1) upped their winning streak to three in a row with a non-section rout of the Eagles at The Nest in McKeesport Tuesday.

Caden Bauer scored the lone goal for the Eagles (2-9) with a second half tally assisted by Will Freiwald.

Nate Loughner finished with five saves in the losing effort.

Serra Catholic is back in section play Thursday at home against Aquinas Academy.

The Jaguars shut out the Mustangs in a Section 2-3A contest Tuesday.

Brayden Miller led the way with four goals for TJ. Owen Householder added the other.

Sam Wessel got the shutout in net. The Jaguars also suffered their first loss of the season, dropping a 3-2 decision to the Mustangs in the continuation of their season opener on Aug. 27.

Cole Radcliffe scored the game-winning goal in the overtime period for LH (4-5-1, 3-5-0).

Thomas Jefferson (6-1-2, 5-1-2) travels to Bethel Park Thursday in a big section match.

Latrobe 3, West Mifflin 2 Greyson Black and Austin Kurta each scored for the Titans (2-6, 2-5) in a narrow loss to the Wildcats (73, 6-1) in a Section 3-3A matchup at Titans Stadium.

No scoring information was reported for Latrobe.

West Mifflin travels to the Schenley Oval to face off against Allderdice at 3 p.m. Thursday in a section game.

Girls West Mifflin 8, South Allegheny 0

Jada Downs netted a hat trick for the Titans (2-7-1) as they ended a seven-game winless streak with a shutout win over the Gladiators (38) Tuesday.

West Mifflin is back on the field with a section game Monday at Plum. The Gladiators, who have lost five of six, travel to Carlynton today for a Section 3-1A match.

Bentworth 16, Carrick 0 Thirteen different players found the back of the net for the Bearcats (8-1) as they easily cruised by the visiting Raiders (0-5) in a non-section game.

Megan Keturakis (3) and Bella Moyer (2) combined for five goals. Other goal scorers for Bentworth were Brielle Dillon, Madelyn Johns, Jesse Laskey, Brina Orsatti, Lauren Jurovcik, Adrianna Weiss, Camille Sneith, Brooke Leonetti, Emme Orsatti, Brynne Dillon and Jada Partee.

Nita Anderson and Julia Brandau combined on the shutout in goal.

The Bearcats return to section play tonight on the road at Waynesburg Central.

Volleyball South Allegheny 3, East Allegheny 0

The Gladiators have no issues sweeping past the visiting Wildcats Tuesday in a Section 2-2A match.

Game scores were 25-7, 25-16 and 25-10.

Violet Pastories and Regan Mc-Beth led the offense for SA with eight aces and six kills.

Alexis Bartrug was a force at the net with two blocks defensively.

The Gladiators host Carlynton Thursday.

Charleroi 3, Wash High 0 The Cougars kept the Prexies (07, 0-7) winless in Section 3-2A with a sweep on their home floor.

Game scores were 25-21, 25-13 and 25-20.

Charleroi (7-4, 6-1) will travel to Waynesburg Central Thursday.

Ringgold 3, Laurel Highlands 0

The Rams took sole possession of second place in Section 3-3A with a sweep over visiting Laurel Highlands (6-3, 4-2).

Game scores were 25-16, 25-18 and 25-17.

The Rams will host Elizabeth Forward Thursday.
