Warriors, Bearcats roll to big wins in section contests

The Elizabeth Forward boys continue to make some noise in Section 3-2A, remaining unbeaten in the section standings with a 5-0 win at Steel Valley (2-4, 2-3) Thursday.

Aidan Davis scored a pair of goals, Ethan Childers added a goal and an assist, and Carson Ruffing had a pair of helpers for the Warriors (4-2-1, 4-0-1).

Luca Valerio and Luke Holdren each found the back of the for Elizabeth Forward.

Matt Johnston picked up the shutout in goal for Elizabeth Forward.

The Warriors resume play Saturday morning at home with a non-section game against Baldwin. Kickoff is set for 10 a.m.

Bentworth 12, California 0

The Bearcats hit double-digit goals for the second straight game as they rolled over the visiting Trojans on the hill.

Bentworth was “doin’ the Bearcat” up and down the field in the first half, jumping out to an 11-0 lead in the first 40 minutes.

Andrew Vipperman and Ryan Moessner each had a hat trick and Dillan Colbert added a pair of goals for Bentworth (7-0, 3-0).

Additional goals were scored by Aiden McMurray, Billy Moyer, Adam Moessner and Caden Hackinson. Assists went to both Moessners, Moyer, Gaige Davenport, Gabe Ewedosh, McMurray, Issac Reynolds, Charles Nuttall, Colbert, Cam Butler and Austin Hollier.

The Bearcats face a tougher test Tuesday when they host Beth-Center. California will host Greensburg C.C. the same night.

South Allegheny 7, East Allegheny 3

Eli Noel scored four goals and Jacob Frum added two as the Gladiators (2-5, 1-3) rolled past the Wildcats for their first Section 3-2A win of the season.

Kaden Gatchie added four assists for South Allegheny. Caleb Jackowski scored a goal and Adam Jackowski had an assist.

Colin Goldstein scored twice for East Allegheny (2-5, 0-5).

South Allegheny hosts Seton La-Salle Tuesday at Gladiators Stadium.

Charleroi 8, Yough 2 The Washington County Cougars got hat tricks from Dylan Klinger and Blake Pendo on their way to a rout of Westmoreland County’s Cougars on Cougar Mountain.

Otis McIntyre added a goal and three assists for Charleroi and Matt Odoski added another goal.

Pendo, Klinger, Ethan Hartley and Nico Fiordigigli each added assists.

Charleroi is home with Waynesburg Central Saturday morning in their home opener. Yough will travel to Waynesburg on Tuesday.

OLSH 4, Serra Catholic 0 The Chargers (5-0, 3-0) peppered Serra Catholic goalkeeper Nate Loughner with shots the entire game and came out with a win in Section 3-1A.

Nate Loughner ended up making 15 saves for the Eagles (1-7, 1-2), but the offense never got started.

The Eagles are back on the pitch Saturday at East Allegheny at 1 p.m.

Golf Elizabeth Forward 208, Charleroi 218

The Warriors won a Section 8-2A match on their home course at Youghiogheny Country Club over the Cougars.

Dom Donato and Luke Boyer each shot a 3-over par 39 to lead Elizabeth Forward. Mitchell Vuick added a 40.

Levi Large and Jake Corrin each shot a 41 for Charleroi. Gage Patterson and Ethan Hartley each finished with a 44.

Both teams will play in the Section 8 sectional tournament Monday at the Madison Club.

Frazier 215, Seton LaSalle 221

The Commodores came away with a Section 8-2A win over the Rebels at Linden Hall Thursday.

Dylan Keilbach shot a 37 with Travis Smith adding a 42.

Aidan Hardy and Brant Alekson finished with a 43 and 46 for the Commodores.

Frazier is back in action today against Shady Side Academy.

Volleyball Charleroi 3, Chartiers-Houston 0

The Cougars picked up wins of 25-20, 25-18 and 25-18 to roll to a Section 3-2A sweep over the visiting Bucs.

No other game information was reported.

Serra Catholic 3, Fort Cherry 1

The Eagles moved to 5-1 and 2-0 in Section 5-1A with a win over Fort Cherry at the nest.

Game scores for the Eagles were 25-22, 25-21, 18-25 and 25-20.

Serra Catholic is back on the Court Tuesday against Eden Christian in a section match.

Ringgold 3, Uniontown 0 The Rams continued their hot start to the season with a sweep of the Red Raiders in Section 3-3A play.

Game scores were 25-18, 25-13 and 25-13.

The Rams will host Ambridge Monday for a non-section game at 7:30 p.m.
