2-year-old opens fall decoration stand at Rostraver Township farm
Carson Gillock is on her way to becoming a fifth-generation farmer at Gillock Farms.
At just the age of 2, Carson Gillock has officially opened up her own fall decoration stand called “Carson’s Harvest Haven” at her family’s farm in Rostraver Township.
According to her father, Cody Gillock, the young entrepreneur has been working hard for the past couple of months collecting eggs, which inspired them to start her own little stand.
“She’s been selling eggs from her chickens for probably the past six months or so, and then the fall stand just opened up today,” Cody said Tuesday. “She’s been doing pretty good with her chickens, so we want to keep her interested. She’s only 2, but she tries to do whatever she can do.”
The farm is located on 221 Leeper Road in Rostraver Township, and Cody encourages everyone to check out Carson’s decoration stand.
It offers multiple fall decorations that people can use during the season, including corn stalks, mums, pumpkins and straw bales. They expect to have sunflowers soon.
The stand will be open throughout fall from 3 to 8 p.m. weekdays and all day on weekends. Carson’s chicken eggs are available at the farm all year round.
“We bought her some chicks when she was 1 year old. She was always playing with them and she always asked to go down and see the chickens in the barn and feed them, ” Cody said. “We figured we would start letting her do something with responsibility.”
Gillock Farms has been in Cody’s family for years and he’s the fourth generation to take on farming. He hopes the experience will inspire his daughter to follow in his footsteps and carry on the family tradition.
Although Carson takes care of the eggs and the fall stand at the farm, Cody added that the farm has other specialties as well, including selling pork and pigs for butcher.
Whether you need fall decorations, pork or eggs, Carson and her parents, Cody and Courtney Gillock, will be happy to serve you at her stand at Gillock Farms.
