It was an especially grand celebration at Community Bank’s new branch location in Rostraver Township, as bank officials donated $10,000 to local nonprofit organizations during the bank’s opening festivities.

Community Bank executives and staff members joined the grand opening celebration Wednesday at the new branch, located at 1670 Broad Ave, Belle Vernon (Rostraver Township.)

“Thank you for coming and talking to all of us like this,” said Community Bank President and CEO John Montgomery. “We’re all ears, so if there’s anything that you have in the community that you think we can be helpful with, you think we can do a better job with, please let us know.”

During the grand opening the bank donated $10,000 to nonprofit organizations throughout the Mon Valley.

Four organizations received $2,500 each and are open to use the funds for their own special projects.

The organizations were:

• Mon Valley Alliance will use the funds for ren- ovations for its new busi –

ness incubator space.

• Mon Valley YMCA will use the funds to support preschool supplies and children’s activities.

• Center on the Hill in Washington Township will use the funds to support senior citizens’ programs and activities.

• Mon Valley Academy For the Arts will use the money to support youth music programs.

“Grants like this help keep the cost low for many of our programs,” said Mon Valley YMCA

CEO Jeff Vitale. “It’s just wonderful to have community partners such as Community Bank — that’s what keeps us going here in the Valley and we’re very thankful for it and thankful for this do- nation.”

The bank also donated an automatic external defibrillator to the North Belle Vernon council for use in the borough’s Com- munity Bank park.

North Belle Vernon Councilwoman Karen Jones accepted the de- fibrillator and said they will keep it in the concession stand in the park in case of emergencies.

“The mayor, the council,

our first responders, we’re so appreciative for such a

wonderful gift that hope-

fully we will never have to use,” Jones said.
