Business brings flowery touch to Mon Valley

Jennifer Wooley recently opened a physical local in Elizabeth for the floral operation she started last October.

Jennifer Wooley has brought a colorful touch to the Mon Valley with Pink Meadow Blooms.

Wooley officially opened a physical location for the business in May and has provided the area with a trendy new micro event space where local residents can also take classes on gardening and bouquet making. Flowers and bouquets are available from Pink Meadow Blooms that are grown in Wooley’s own garden.

She started the business from her home in Rostraver Township with an at-home garden and began selling bouquets.

“So last summer, I thought I’d just put together a couple little bouquets and put them by the roadside and see if anyone buys and it was successful,” Wooley said. “So I thought, ‘Wow, maybe I should get into flower farming because I know that it’s very trendy right now.”

Wooley officially started her flower and bouquet business in October of last year, but this spring she opened a location at 1000 Swiss Way in Elizabeth that can be rented out for special events. With certain packages, Wooley will provide the flower arrangements and more.

It’s important for Wooley to keep her flower products organic, so she uses no chemicals on anything she grows.

“In my gardening, I’ve always done natural methods. I do not use pesticides. I do not use Miracle-Gro unless it’s labeled organic,” Wooley said. “I use fish emulsion and bone meal and all the organic products for fertilizer and no pest control, because I work with nature. I’m a bee lover. I’m a nature lover.”

Originally from upstate New York. Wooley moved to the Mon Valley in 2003 with her husband, Robert Wooley. Her background was in elementary education, but was inspired to start a gardening business due to her love of nature.

Wooley is the sole owner of the business, but she gets help from her husband and daughter, Katelyn Losteter. She was especially thankful for her daughter’s assistance with her social media accounts.

Wooley is also grateful to Little City Coffee in New Eagle, which helped her propel and establish the business in the area. She’s also thankful to be working alongside Flamingo Legs Catering, which has helped provide service in her venue.

Pink Meadow Blooms has brought something new to the area, which Wooley is happy to provide to the community.

“I’ve lived in many areas and Elizabeth, the Mon Valley, they want a lot of the perks and trendy things they might see in Lawrenceville or the Southside,” Wooley said. “But this gives them an opportunity to experience these trendy classes and things within the Mon Valley.” Wooley provides several event packages for her venue that can be tailored based on hours of the event or the number of guests. The Rose package is her top service, where they help clients set up the venue and arrange flowers for the event.

Her venue can hold up to 40 people and can be used for any kind of event such as book clubs or bridal showers.

Wooley also holds classes for the local community in which she teaches people how to make bouquets or a “mommy and me” tea party for mothers and daughters where she had local vendors. She hopes to offer more events like a French-inspired charcuterie board class.

Wooley is excited to see what comes in the future and is happy to provide a new venue space and organically grown flowers to the Mon Valley.

“This business came out so quickly within weeks and it’s been successful, and I just thank God for that,” Wooley said.

Anyone who wants to order flowers from Pink Meadow Blooms or learn about the venue can visit www.pinkmeadowblooms. com. The business is also on Facebook and Instagram.
