Marlene Weslager – Formerly of Rostraver Township

Marlene Weslager, formerly of Rostraver Township, peacefully passed into the loving arms of the Lord on July 24, 2024, at age 92, in Wilming ton , N.C. Born in Chicago, Ill., in 1932, to Bardele and Lenwilla Hinger, Marlene was a beacon of love and compassion to all who knew her. She married Robert “Bob” Weslager on Feb. 4, 1953, in Pittsburgh. They enjoyed 60 years of marriage until Bob’s passing in late 2013. Marlene is survived by her four children and their spouses: Jim (Jan) Weslager, Rick (Beth Ann) Weslager, Pam (Mike) Palanza and Sandy (Rick) Deppisch. She is also survived by her 13 loving grandchildren: Jason, Jacob, Jeremy, Addison, David, Mickey, Maya, Taylor, Breanne, Jesse, Chandler, Josiah and Lauren. Marlene was a great-grandmother to Kolin, Kathryn, Mae, Leo, Michael, Miller, Griffin, Charles, Hayes, Hudson, Isaac, Liam, Ivory, Osiris, Zephyr and Auraleigh. Marlene embraced life with open arms, known for her warm hugs and selfless care giving. She was a longtime member of Fells United Methodist Church, where she worked part-time as the church secretary and volunteered at hospice. As a member of the Rostraver Knitting Club, she knitted sweaters for premature babies. Marlene was always lending a compassionate ear to those in need. Her dedication to others extended throughout her career at the Pittsburgh Board of Public Education and Sears Roebuck Co. Marlene’s life was a testament to kindness and generosity, leaving behind a legacy of love that will be cherished by all who knew her. In lieu of visitation, the family suggests donations to EveryAge Foundation in Marlene’s honor: EveryAge Foundation, 1380 N. College Road, Wilmington, NC 28405. They express heartfelt thanks to Elderhaus PACE for their loving care of mom.
