Donald R. Mitchell – Belle Vernon/Washington Township

Donald R. Mitchell, 89, of Belle Vernon, Washington Township, passed away Friday, July 26, 2024, at his home. Born Nov. 10, 1934, in Belle Vernon, he was the son of the late Roy and Bertha May Oliphant Mitchell. A lifelong resident of Fairhope, Mr. Mitchell retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Monessen, where he worked as a craneman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his family. The last surviving member of his immediate family, he is survived by his wife, Judy Greco Mitchell, with whom he celebrated 62 years of marriage on July 7, 2024; two daughters, Jackie Mitchell of Belle Vernon and Denise Mitchell of Belle Vernon; three grandchildren, Marlene and Jeffrey Pritchard, Donna and David Johnson, and Perry and Minda Mitchell; and four great-grandchildren, Jacob Pritchard, Taylor Pritchard, Parker Johnson and Olivia Mitchell. He was preceded in death by his four sisters, Agnes, Florence, Esther and Dorothy; and three brothers, Curtis, Roy and Raymond. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME & CREMATIONS LLC, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724929-6183. A blessing service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations LLC with the Msgr. James Gaston of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church officiating. Entombment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
