Gate of Heaven church to host 24th annual 3-on-3 basketball tournament

For the MVI

Gate of Heaven Church of God in Christ will host its 24th Annual 3-on-3 basketball tournament in Monessen on Saturday.

The tournament begins at 10 a.m. at the Anthony Eric Madison Veterans Memorial Park (formerly 9th Street Park).

The tournament will consist of many teams of various ages. There will also be a foul shooting contest. Trophies and other prizes will be given to the winners.

There will be fun and games for kids, including a corn hole competition. Face painting will be available.

A variety of traditional food will be served, including hot dogs, hamburgers, also featuring the popular delicious barbecue wings from the La Gate Café. All our food handlers are certified by Servsafe for the successful completion of the required course in food handling safety.

Event Chairman Marvin Davis will be assisted by members of the Gate of Heaven Church.

Jessica Anderson is in charge of the basketball games. She will be assisted by Monet Wade and Christine Chukwedo.

Bishop William C. Bass Sr., church pastor, invites the public to support this event.

“Many of the organizations in Monessen want and request for our church to attend and support their events. It would be nice of them to show their support to our church by attending and supporting our public event,” Bass said.
