Mon Valley Community FCU announces Volunteers Memorial Scholarship winners

For the MVI

The Mon Valley Community Federal Credit Union announced the recipients of its Volunteers Memorial Scholarship for 2024.

The scholarship program exemplifies the unwavering commitment to fostering education and supporting outstanding high school graduates. These students were chosen from a pool of highly qualified applicants based on their academic records, activities and written statement. Laura Hermann, daughter of Philip and Tracy Hermann, is a graduate of Charleroi Area High School where she was an honors student and participated in track. She will be attending Point Park University where she will pursue a double major in theater and business with a focus on nonprofit management.

Madalynn Lancy will pursue her goal of becoming a doctor at the University of Pittsburgh, Bradford Campus, in the fall. She is the daughter of Mike and Melissa Lancy of Charleroi. Madalynn graduated from Charleroi Area High School as an honor student.

The Volunteers Memorial Scholarship was initiated in 2006. Each year, two high school graduates who are members of the credit union, are awarded $2,000 scholarships. Recipients are chosen by a group of local clergy.

Applications for the 2025 scholarships will be available in the MVCFCU offices, Main Street, Allenport, Jan. 1, 2025.
