VALLEY CLUB NOTES

Valley Garden Club

Valley Garden Club held its monthly meeting May 9 at the Lynnwood Lutheran Church in Washington Township.

President Roxanne Huss led the flag pledge. Birthdays for the month were: Pam Gregor, May 1; Connie Levander, May 3; Lexie Jones, May 9 and Mardell Page, May 10.

Terry Frederick, in the absence of Secretary/ Treasurer Pam Gregor, read the minutes from the April meeting. Page corrected the wording on the scholarship minutes from organizations to schools. With no other corrections or additions, the minutes were approved. Frederick also gave the treasurer’s report, which was approved.

Huss welcomed new member, Laurie Lazzari, sponsored by Sue Ann Edwards.

Hostesses were Cecil Verkleeren and Janice Yeaton.

The drawing was donated by Lexie Jones and won by Angie Raitano.

The program was a presentation by Jane Clark from the Audubon Society about birds and flowers.

Frederick was installed as the new vice president as a result of Elaine Harmon’s retirement.

The District X annual fundraiser will be June 13 at the South Hills Country Club. VGC is responsible for the centerpieces. Edwards is preparing a raffle basket.

VGC’s bi-annual flower show will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. July 11 at the Mon Valley YMCA in Carroll Township. There is no admission charge, and the event is open to the public. This year’s theme is “Let’s Party.”

With all business concluded, the meeting was adjourned.
