VALLEY CLUB NOTES

Catholic Women’s College Club

The culminating dinner for the Catholic Women’s College Club was held 5:30 p.m. May 6 . The women gathered at St. Andrew the Apostle social hall, Donora site, for a buffet dinner.

President Helen Bednarczyk welcomed the group and recognized guests Sophia Piscitelli, guest of Marie Feick, and Sue Ellen Kapty, guest of Carin Alvarez. Chaplain, the Rev. Pierre Falkenhan gave the invocation and dinner was held.

Bednarczyk thanked the May committee, Carin Alvarez, Diane Vernet and Martha Ghilani. She then called the meeting to order. Secretary Susan Gessner read the minutes from the April meeting and Treasurer Marie Feick gave the financial report. Both were approved. Committee reports were addressed and discussed.

Bednarczyk presented each member with a blessed holy card of Our Lady of Perpetual Help as a memento from her trip to the Vatican.

The slate of officers for 2024-25 was presented, voted on, and accepted by the members. The new officers are: President Helen Bednarczyk, Vice President Kathleen Molesky, Secretary Julianne Hostovich, Treasurer Marie Feick.

Falkenhan installed the new officers and gave a brief summary of the history of May crowning, which enlightened the women of the tradition. Molesky crowned the blessed mother as the group sang hymns.

Ghilani, Molesky, Bednarczyk and Sophia Piscitelli on gifts of the month, a hanging basket and garden stepping stones. Falkenhan closed the meeting with prayer.

The next meeting of the CWCC will be Sept. 9, hosted by the officers. The charitable service will be donations to the food banks.
