William Robert Mellor Jr. – Stow, Ohio, formerly of New Eagle

William Robert Mellor Jr., 72, of Stow, Ohio, formerly of New Eagle, died on Tuesday, June 4, 2024. Bill was born Nov. 26, 1951, in North Charleroi, a son of the late William R. “Speed” and Julia Sollosi Mellor. Bill grew up in New Eagle and graduated in 1969 from Monongahela High School. He attended the Electronics Institute in Pittsburgh attaining his first- and second-class FCC license. In 1971, Bill enlisted in the U.S. Army serving our country during the Vietnam War and stationed in Alaska. He later received an associate degree in electronic technology. He worked in the electronics field for various companies including NCR in Cambridge, Ohio, Measurex, Procter & Gamble and retired from Rockwell Automation (formerly Allen- Bradley) in Twinsburg, Ohio. Bill married Paula Roberts and raised his son, Sean, while in Stow, Ohio. He enjoyed playing guitar and played at various venues. He liked the outdoors, especially the parks located near him. He enjoyed biking and skiing. Bill is survived by his son, Sean Mellor; grandchildren, Austin, Jayden, Trenton, Declan and Wesley Mellor; brother, Terry J. (Beth) Mellor of Whitehall; niece, Miranda Mellor; and nephew, Eric Mellor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Paula June Roberts Mellor, who died Dec. 9, 2011. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 7, 2024, at FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC., 427 W. Main St., Monongahela. Prayers will be recited in the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2024, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian burial in St. Andrew the Apostle Church, Monongahela. Committal services and interment will follow in the Monongahela Cemetery with full military honors accorded by the Mon Valley Firing Squad and Honor Guard. Bill’s family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the Justin T. Rogers Cleveland Clinic Hospice Care Center in Summit County, Ohio.
