Summer continuing education classes at WCCC start in June

With many courses available, there is an abundance of opportunities for personal and professional growth.

For the MVI

The summer Westmoreland County Community College continuing education schedule features a variety of new classes for adults and summer camps that are sure to please any youth.

The following classes are just a sampling of what is being offered:

• For the artists, Wonders of Watercolor will allow budding painters to learn watercolor techniques and create a still-life painting. No experience is required.

Youth ages 7-12 can also take part in the fun by enrolling in Paint Like Bob Ross where they will learn to paint happy trees and more. Also for the same age group, Kids and Culture features hands-on activities to explore traditional arts and crafts to music, dance and folklore.

• Aspiring writers can explore writing for blogs, online magazines and websites or how to craft romance novels. Writing for Online Blogs, Magazines and Websites will explore how to find ideas, sources, and insight into more than 1,000 opportunities that pay, conduct interviews and more. How to Outline and Write an Irresistible Romance addresses this number one selling fiction genre by instructing participants in winning romance formulas from the setting, lead character, plots and dialogues and more.

• Foodies can find delight this summer with three new classes in Three Appetizers to Please Everyone highlighting easy-to-learn techniques; Zuppa Toscana, a rustic Tuscan soup; and Stuffed Zucchini. And for the younger food enthusiasts between 7-18, there are specialized classes in pretzel making, Focaccia bread, cookie decorating and nutrition.

• The Kids and Youth section offers more than 25 new camps ranging from food, robotics, camping and science to budgeting, leadership, culture and sports, plus much more. Additionally, a full schedule of sports camps and clinics can help budding athletes hone skills in a variety of sports.

With courses also available in health and wellness, languages and culture, law and money management, and stress management, there is an abundance of opportunities for personal and professional growth.
